I liked the idea of taking what was a very emotive piece of text and building a song solely from those words. So, I typed them into a voice generator and blasted them into a room and recorded that audio. I then ran it all through itself - through delays, reverbs and so on so that it was all broken up and weird. I then chopped the vocals up so that they gradually become more and more deteriorated.
No idea whether it means anything but I find the end result quite emotional.
Calum
Eva gave me a prompt of a sad recurring dream where she finds a small weak boy that has drowned.
The melody of the piece was inspired by the name Eva, you can almost hear the notes singing the name in the acciaccatura at the end of the phrase. The hypnotic repetition and uncertainty of the tonality pushes it into this eerie space that the prompt put me in.
I think i’d like to fall asleep to this but I also think that i’d maybe end up having similar dreams and i wouldn’t wish that upon anybody. May this song cast away all your bad dreams x
The first ever pianist I fell in love with was Yann Tiersen - my piano teacher introduced me to the music from Amelie when I was around 11 and it soon became my obsession. I loved how the simplicity of his music resonated so deeply only using a number of notes and sequences, and how he very subtly changed the progressions as the songs went on. Every one of his piano songs owns a special place in my heart, how no words are ever used but you completely understand the emotion conveyed. So unwillingly every piano song I write will forever sound like a Yann Tiersen song, because to me every song of his is perfect. And that’s what we all strive for, isn’t it?

Prompt given:
Spaghetti for veins
Slurp em up in a stew
lmao this is wild
synths (if u want :) )
I think this song really speaks for itself. It takes only the finest of music critics to examine this work. I guess I could make up some bullshit about how i tried to capture the slurp of the veins through the rising distorted synth towards the end, an uncomfortable feeling like i imagine having your veins slurped would be.
I hope you play this song next time you are having spaghetti. And imagine you have spaghetti for veins . What a life.

This isn’t spaghetti and this isn’t veins but I think this photo’s real nice. A tree struck by lighting (or maybe it’s just heard this fuckin banger)
Prompt given :
This photo made me feel cold. I tried to capture the brutality of the building and the mundane feel of grazing horses by keeping the track empty but harsh all the same. Lonely like that singular man, engulfed by the bleak world surrounding him.
